Transfer Alert: Coventry City Step Up Scouting of In-Form Norwegian Goalscorer

Coventry City are claimed to be “monitoring” Norwegian striker Kristian Lien ahead of the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old has scored 15 goals in the Swedish top flight so far this season, helping Djurgården – a club based on an island near Stockholm – to third place in the Allsvenskan league.
That’s according to ontheminute.com which says the Sky Blues have been scouting the forward along with Championship clubs Birmingham City and Wrexham – with all three said to be keeping tabs on the player’s situation.

A report says: “Ontheminute.com understands the Sky Blues are following Lien as part of their search for emerging attacking talent. Their Premier League status could give them an advantage if the pursuit develops into formal negotiations.”
The article continues: “Djurgården remain under no pressure to decide Lien’s future. His form over the next few months will influence both his valuation and the strength of any January interest.
“All three clubs are still in the assessment phase, leaving room for more suitors to join. However, Coventry ’s involvement may encourage their rivals to act earlier, turning a scouting story into a genuine winter transfer contest.”
Lien previously played for Dutch side Groningen but caught the eye with 11 goals on loan at Norwegian top flight side HamKam in 2025. That earned him interest in Sweden and his subsequent €600k move to Djurgården where he has established himself as a regular goal scorer.
A 6ft 2 inch tall centre-forward who plays with the No.9 shirt on his back is also credited with five assists this season, which runs between April and November in Sweden to avoid the harsh winters.
