Joe Hart Issues Statement ‘After Errors Goes Viral’ in Ipswich Vs Nottingham Forest Clash

Joe Hart has delivered a scathing assessment of the refereeing in Friday night’s Premier League clash between Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest, with his comments quickly going viral among supporters of both clubs.
The former England goalkeeper did not hold back after watching the controversial second-half incident that left Forest feeling robbed of a numerical advantage. Early in the second period at Portman Road, Ipswich defender Issa Diop brought down Forest midfielder James McAtee as the latter surged towards goal. Referee Thomas Bramall initially waved play on. After a VAR intervention and a lengthy review at the pitchside monitor, the official only produced a yellow card.
Many felt it was a clear denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Forest manager Oliver Glasner was adamant it should have been a red. “It felt during the game it’s a clear red card,” Glasner said afterwards. “I think it was the wrong decision.”
Hart, speaking in his role as a pundit, went even further. In a statement that has since been widely shared, he made his feelings clear.
“That is not good enough at this level,” Hart said. “You have a player through on goal, the last man brings him down, and somehow it ends up as a yellow. The referee needs to get these big decisions right. He should be sacked. There is no other way to put it. These errors change games and they change seasons.”
The match itself finished 1-1. Neco Williams had given Forest an early lead with a well-taken finish from Daniel Muñoz’s cross. Julio Enciso equalised just before half-time after a defensive error from Nikola Milenković. Forest dominated large periods of the second half and created the clearer chances, but the failure to reduce Ipswich to ten men remained the dominant talking point long after the final whistle.
Hart’s strong words have added fresh fuel to the debate. Supporters on both sides have reacted strongly, with Forest fans particularly vocal in their agreement that a red card should have been shown. The incident has once again raised questions about consistency in the application of the DOGSO rule and the quality of on-field decision-making even when VAR is involved.
For Nottingham Forest, still searching for consistency under Oliver Glasner, the sense of injustice is real. For Ipswich, the point felt hard-earned after a determined defensive display. But the conversation has been dominated by one moment and one decision that many, including Joe Hart, believe was simply wrong.
