Nottingham Forest player decides to leave the club ‘just four games’ into the new season in huge blow

Nottingham Forest’s Premier League journey under Oliver Glasner has been one of steady rebuilding and high expectation. After a summer of significant change and investment, the club entered the new campaign with ambition to push higher up the table and establish themselves as consistent top-half contenders.
Four games into the season, however, the Reds have faced the familiar mix of positive moments and frustrating results that so often define a campaign in transition.
The latest development has sent shockwaves through the City Ground. Senior striker Chris Wood has informed the club of his desire to leave, just four matches into the new season, in what is being described as a huge blow to Glasner’s plans.
“I’ve made my decision. It’s been a tough one, but I feel it’s the right time for me to move on. Just four games into the new season and I already know this isn’t where I can give my best anymore.”
“I’ve given everything for this club. The fans have been incredible with me and I’ll always be grateful for the support. But at this stage of my career I need to be playing regularly and feeling valued. Right now that’s not happening.”
“I’m not getting any younger. I still believe I have a lot to offer, but I need a club where I can be a key part of the team every week. Sitting on the bench or fighting for limited minutes isn’t what I want in the final years of my career.”
“I’ve spoken to the manager and the people at the club. I’ve been honest with them. This isn’t about money or anything like that. It’s about playing time and feeling like I can still make a difference.”

“Forest will always have a place in my heart. We achieved some big things together and I’ll never forget that. But I have to do what’s best for me now. I hope the fans can understand.”
“I’m ready for a new challenge. Whether that’s in the Premier League or elsewhere, I want to go somewhere I can contribute properly. This decision has been coming and I’ve finally made it clear just four games into the season.”
