Motherwell Furious as ‘Justice Done’ Verdict Emerges After Kim Misses

MOTHERWELL blasted the decision to award Rangers a penalty in today’s Premiership clash.

Derek McInnes‘ men hosted Alfred Johansson’s Motherwell side at Ibrox in their fifth league game of the season. While Motherwell were looking to extend their unbeaten start, they were quickly dealt a couple of early blows in the first half.

Rangers were awarded a spot-kick shortly after taking the lead through a 12th-minute strike from Ryan Naderi.

Midfielder Tom Sparrow was penalised for colliding with Djeidi Gassama inside the box when challenging for the ball.

He attempted to clear a Rangers cross to safety, but Gassama got there first and was wiped out by Sparrow, leaving referee Duncan Nicolson with no option but to point to the spot.

The on-field whistler’s decision was subsequently backed by VAR.

South Korean winger Minsu Kim had the chance to double the lead and fire home his first goal in a Rangers shirt, but he failed to hit the target.

And Motherwell’s social media admin claimed the miss was “justice done” after labeling it a “soft” penalty.

Sharing an update on X, the club wrote: “Rangers have an incredibly soft looking penalty. Justice done as it’s blasted wide of the post.”

Meanwhile, Lawrence Shankland has emerged as a major injury concern after pulling up with a knock against Motherwell.

The Rangers captain was forced off just five minutes into the match after going down with a hamstring issue.

It could prove a massive blow for the Light Blues, with a crucial double-header against Celtic right around the corner.
