De Zerbi ‘Digs Out’ Mikey Moore — Tottenham Icon Reveals What He Really Thinks of Rangers Loan Star

Glenn Hoddle is a vocal admirer of the 19-year-old winger but he suffered a chastening night against Brentford

Legendary Glenn Hoddle reckons Roberto Di Zerbi “dug out” Mikey Moore after Tottenham’s nightmare 3-0 defeat to Brentford.

The Spurs icon is a vocal admirer of the 19-year-old winger after publicly stating he wouldn’t have allowed Moore to join Rangers and reckoned he was ready for the Premier League last season.

Moore – who impressed at Ibrox last season – started against the Bees but was one of many who were stung by a rival who dominated from start to finish.

Di Zerbi namechecked the pressure Moore was put under as one of the Spurs issues before he was replaced by James Maddison in the 68th minute.

And Hoddle reckons it a public calling out, speaking to Premier League Productions, he said: “‘I think they struggled a little bit having Archie Gray and Mikey Moore down that right side, they weren’t pressing together, I think that’s what he’s alluding to, but he’s dug him out a little bit there.

‘If you’re going to press you have to press together, it’s no good one person going on his own. Brentford’s first goal I’m thinking, ‘Richarlison, don’t go to the goalkeeper’, but he did, presses him, waste of energy. They were not doing that well’.

It came after Di Zerbi’s unflinching verdict on why things went wrong for Spurs on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

The Italian said: “We were not ready to fight in the duels. I think we made a lot of mistakes in the timing of the pressure with Mikey Moore in the left centre, we arrived too many times late.

‘We lost too many duels to compete with Brentford, I’m sorry for that, I’m sorry for the defeat. I know we have to improve in the physical condition, we have to improve in the organisation because there were many new players.’
