O’Neill Gets Green Light! Celtic Target Told He’s FREE to Leave Current Club

MARTIN O’NEILL wants fresh Celtic faces in the door before the window slams shut next week. And one player who has been linked with a move to the Scottish champions has been told he is free to leave his current club.

Earlier today, it was stated how Hoops boss O’Neill is trying to get bodies in the building as some key areas he wants to address were named by him.

A left-back is wanted to help the load on first-choice Kieran Tierney while a ‘strong replacement’ for Arne Engels is also on the agenda.

A goalkeeper is one that has been on the priority list after Kasper Schmeichel‘s exit.

That has left current first choice Viljami Sinisalo and Ross Doohan between the sticks.

A number of names have been linked to Celtic including former England international and Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

His current boss Cesar Peixoto has opened the door for the 33-year-old to depart Molineux.

Joao Virginia and John Ruddy have both arrived at the English Championship side this week. The Wolves boss explained: “I have the same conversations and the same honesty with Sam I have with all the players.

“Before they are a player, they are a man, with families and kids.

“We have to respect the person.I have to talk with them honestly and tell them what is my decision or that of the club to build a strong team.

“Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions in order to build a better team or good group.

“All the time I am very clear, honest and direct with the players and all the people in the club.

“He [Johnstone] is still training with the team but won’t be part of the team for the future.”
