The Detroit Lions, 11-1 and all, will come to their NFC North clash with Green Bay Packers hurting but expect no mercy from running back Josh Jacobs.
Left tackle Taylor Decker (knee), defensive lines Josh Paschal (knee) and Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring), and defensive tackle DJ Reader (shoulder) are all expected to miss the game scheduled on Friday with kick off at 7:15 CST.
Two-time Pro Bowl Jacobs does not care about the fact. He knows the Lions are a good team and so they will come for them at full speed.
“I don’t care about it,” he said.
“It’s the NFL. Next man up mentality. We got that same mentality, so I don’t really care who was in. Names and numbers, they’re faceless to me.”
The Packers are equally hurting, too. The team are confirmed to miss linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hamstring) and cornerback Corey Ballentine (knee) who did not participate in team’s Tuesday practice.
Jaire Alexander and Romeo Doubs did team field activities over the weekend although there’s still no assurance they will be available.
Josh Jacobs on his workload
Jacobs’ role this season has increased and he is not bothered if the team decides to play him more than the usual.
In fact, he was the one who told them that he is ready to work beyond what is asked of him.
“They’d be getting on me because they’ve wanted me to take less reps, but I think it’s important for the guys to see me work,” said Jacobs.
“I think it’s important to get the reps, so I’ll practice. I think, for me, it’s what I’m used to and been doing it for so long. I feel like the running back room in general, we kind of set the tone for the team. So, each day, regardless if it’s practice or game, we try to come out and do that.”
The Packers are surely getting their money’s worth on Jacobs who signed with them at the start of the season to the tune of four-year, $48 million contract.
He already run 987 yards and might surpass 1,000 against the Lions before the weekend.
