Félix Auger-Aliassime couldn’t pull off his wedding without the support of his fiancée Nina Ghaibi.
The Canadian tennis star and the equestrian, both 25, are set to wed in a lavish Marrakesh, Morocco, ceremony two weeks after the US Open in N.Y.C. — where Auger-Aliassime has made a run to the men’s singles semifinals. With tour life requiring him to travel all over the world for a majority of the year, he tells PEOPLE during Media Weekend at the 2025 US Open that he appreciates his fiancée “doing everything” for the upcoming nuptials.
“I didn’t do much. As long as I have my suit ready, that’s about the best I can do,” jokes the athlete, who will be dressed by Dior for the wedding. “But she’s been amazing. Her and her family have been taking care of a lot, and I have to give her all the credit.”

As for why they settled on a date so close to the last Grand Slam of the year, he explains, “It’s tough to find a date in this busy calendar that we have, but we wanted to do it in the summertime.”
Their schedules didn’t allow for a July ceremony, and he says Marrakesh would be “too hot” at the time.
Though he let his fiancée handle most of the logistics, his one non-negotiable was that there would be a “full bar” and “hospitality” for all their guests — which also includes a few of his fellow Canadian tennis players, Gabriel Diallo, Alexis Galarneau and Vasek Pospisil.
“You want to feel like people are welcome, and they’re not stretching themselves to come to your wedding,” the current World No. 27 says.

He proposed to Ghaibi in November 2024 during a vacation to the Seychelles, where he prepared a “very intimate and very private” moment. Although they will soon exchange rings, nothing will change for the couple of six years, Auger-Aliassime says — save for discussions of “future plans together, kids, all that.”
Of married life, he adds, “What I look [forward] to is all the challenges it’s gonna bring and how we’re going to adapt.”
Auger-Aliassime plays his semifinal match at the US Open against Jannik Sinner on Friday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. ET.
