Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek have developed a budding friendship off the court, which began with a fun TikTok they filmed at the 2024 WTA Finals. However, Sabalenka has disclosed that they don’t have plans for any more such delightful clips in the near future, despite their recent joint training session.
Sabalenka has made a triumphant start to her 2025 season at the Brisbane International. Following a bye, the World No. 1 took on Renata Zarazua in her opening match at the WTA 500 event, claiming a 6-4, 6-0 victory in just 64 minutes.
In the lead-up to the Brisbane International, Aryna Sabalenka competed in the World Tennis League exhibition event in Abu Dhabi, where she took part in a joint training session with Iga Swiatek that quickly went viral and drew delighted reactions from fans.
However, the two opted not to create another TikTok during their time together. When asked about it in her post-match interview, Sabalenka explained that she and Swiatek had agreed to keep their collaborative TikToks “special” by limiting themselves to just one per year.
“You know, we decided that we do it once a year, so everyone… Maybe nobody actually is waiting for our TikTok to be honest. We feel like it’s going to be more special if we’re going to do it once a year,” Sabalenka said.
While Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek had already established a fierce rivalry on tour, they have also begun developing a close friendship. Their off-court bond first blossomed when the Belarusian “convinced” Swiatek to film a fun TikTok showing off their glamorous WTA Finals gala attire.
The Pole later credited Sabalenka for encouraging her to step out of her comfort zone, humorously admitting that she could take lessons in social media creativity from the World No. 1.
“Obviously, I’m not the kind of person who goes on TikTok a lot but it was really fun doing something else and I can learn from her actually how to do proper TikToks,” Swiatek told the WTA.
