This past season the New York Jets had two star wide receivers who can put up 1,000 yards per season with regularity. But if this coming offseason doesn’t go well, they could find themselves with none by Week 1.
Hours ago it was reported that third-year wide receiver and former Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson is going to seek a trade from the Jets this coming offseason. Wilson has expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the team on occasion this past year and he may not want to tie himself to the franchise for the long term when he can find more success for the same amount of money elsewhere.
But now the Jets have the compound problem of No. 1 wide receiver Davante Adams making cryptic posts that could lead to his departure as well.
Taking to his Instagram Story a short while ago, Adams shared a photo of himself wearing a pair of green and gold shoes that are practically identical to the Green Bay Packers’ colors. Speculation immediately ran rampant that he wants to get traded to Green Bay after spending most of last year with the Jets:
“JUST IN: Davante Adams continues to hint that he will be returning to the Green Bay #Packers this off-season. Adams, an all-time great Packer, including 5 Pro Bowl appearances and multi-time All-Pro,” the MLFootball aggregator account on X wrote.
“Davante continues to beg* GB to bring him back,” wrote another.
“I have absolutely no idea how to feel about this. If he’s 70% the Davante of 4yrs ago, he’s the best we’d have. Also feels like the Packers are looking for a cheaper way to boost the offense… which..can only mean they’re going big on Maxx! That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it,” another mused.
“Not holding my breath but would still be awesome,” a third fan wrote.
Granted, Adams is a notorious troll on Instagram. Prior to his trade to the New York Jets from the Raiders back in October, Adams posted a photo of famed horror writer Edgar Allen Poe – an icon in the city of Baltimore – leading many to speculate that he would be joining the Baltimore Ravens. But this turned out to be either a troll job or completely unrelated as he was moved to New York mere days later.
Do you think Adams is going to seek a trade out of New York, or is he just being goofy with this post?
