“We Will Get!” – Martin O’Neill Delivers Exciting Celtic Transfer Update

Martin O’Neill has indicated that Alistair Johnston’s injury setback could see Celtic enter the market for another right-back.

Johnston is set to be out for at least two months, with Celtic now expected to look for a quality addition to provide depth alongside Colby Donovan and Anthony Ralston.

O’Neill also hinted that a left-back could be brought in. Its  understood  that Landon Emenalo is shaking off a knock suffered in Chelsea training earlier this summer. With a season-long loan agreed, Emenalo is expected to become a Celtic player over the next week.

However, the Celtic boss made it clear that all of his focus is on tomorrow night’s Champions League play-off second leg, with the Hoops holding a 3-0 aggregate lead over LASK.

He said: (Celtic FC YouTube), “Yeah, I think that we’d need to have a look.

“I mean, if you consider that Kieran is essentially our only left-sided full-back in that sense, we’ll have a little look.

“But I really will not be concentrating on anything at all until after the game.

“Regardless of what the result is or whichever competition we happen to be in, then we’ve got some days before the transfer deadline and I hope that we will get some people in.”

It is a strong statement from O’Neill and suggests Celtic supporters should expect further signings over the next week.

His comment about Tierney being “essentially” the only left-back was particularly open and direct. Some may perceive it as a dig at the other options in the squad, while others will simply see it as the Irishman being straightforward with journalists about where Celtic still need to strengthen.

Celtic still have business to do over the final days of the window, with several potential additions still being considered.

Should the Hoops finish the job against LASK and secure Champions League qualification, that would also provide another significant financial boost as Celtic look to strengthen O’Neill’s squad before the deadline.
