Florin Tanase (30 years old) could conclude, this summer, his second chapter in FCSB. Although he was one of the highlights of Romania’s 2-0 friendly match against Cyprus, scoring a goal for the tricolours, the striker left room for speculation about his future.
In the mixed area of the National Arena, Tanase made some ambiguous statements about the next period, suggesting that a departure from the Romanian champions is not excluded. Without giving concrete details, his tone was interpreted by many as a clear indication that an eventual breakup is in the books.
Gigi Becali, disturbed by Florin Tănase’s attitude
FCSB owner Gigi Becali (66 years old) did not remain indifferent to the footballer’s statements. The team financier reacted visibly irritated by what they consider to be an unfortunate exit from one of its core men.
“I’ll talk to him and see if he wants to leave. He has one more year of contract. (n.r. he announced that he does not want to prolong) I do not know. Call him then if he wants to leave,” Becali told Digi Sport.
Espanyol on the trail of former top scorer
In recent weeks, the sports press has reported on a possible interest from Espanyol Barcelona for Florin Tănase. The Spanish club, in recon sheriving and eager to return to the forefront of Iberian football, would have him on the purchase list for the summer transfer window.
As of now, there is no concrete offer from the Catalans, but sources close to the footballer claim that the option of a return abroad is viewed with openness by Tănase, especially in the context in which he is 30 years old and wants a new challenge before the end of his career.
“I have one year left on my contract, there’s no question of prolonging. Now I want to go on vacation. Now I want to go on vacation. Yes, certainly, there are discussions. We see, after the holiday. (ed. Looks like you’re not staying at FCSB) There’s no way it looks. There are discussions, we see. I am considering this situation.
(n.r. Aren’t you tempted by the Champions League dream?) I didn’t leave. It’s normal, anyone who tempts this dream. I’m still at FCSB, our thought is in the Champions League groups,” Tanase said.
Florin Tanase had an appreciated path at FCSB, being for several years one of the most important scorers and leaders of the team. Recently returned after an experience in the Arab area, the striker seems to be looking for a different path again, and his messages leave the impression of a possible amicable breakup.
It remains to be seen whether this summer will bring forward a spectacular new transfer for the red-blues or whether Tanase will continue under the command of Elias Charalambous in the attempt to keep the title next season.
