Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur expressed his utmost confidence in Josh Jacobs, even if the 26-year-old running back had a modest production by his standards during their 30-17 Thanksgiving win over the Miami Dolphins.

Josh Jacobs has been one of the best signings for the Green Bay Packers this season because of his impressive work rate. The two-time Pro Bowler had 26 carries for 106 yards against the San Francisco 49ers last week, and he had 19 carries and four pass catches for a total of 115 yards against the Miami Dolphins.

Speaking to the media postgame, LaFleur was asked how many running backs could handle 49 touches within five days.

“Probably only one,” LaFleur answered via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

While hearing this from Matt LaFleur should hype up fans, it is worth noting that Jacobs is not the only running back who could handle that big workload, as Houston Texans’ Joe Mixon had 54 touches in five days last month.

Josh Jacobs gives the Green Bay Packers offense a different dynamic

On top of his 115-yard night against the Miami Dolphins, Josh Jacobs also broke double-digit tackles for the second straight game.

Jacobs set a new season-high 15 broken tackles against the San Francisco 49ers, and he did it again against the Miami Dolphins last Thursday, eight as a runner and seven more as a receiver.

His highlight play came in the fourth quarter, as he made several Miami Dolphins players miss in the open field for 49 receiving yards to eventually set up a field goal that put the game beyond doubt for the Green Bay Packers.
