Arise Holger Rune! Carlos Alcaraz surprisingly defeated amid injury travails in Barcelona Open 2025 Final

Carlos Alcaraz entered the final of the Barcelona Open aiming to lift the prestigious Conde de Godó trophy for the third time in his young career. Standing in his way was Holger Rune, a familiar rival and longtime friend, just a few days older than the Spaniard. The two have shared a rich history on court since their junior days, but this time it was Rune who came out on top.
Alcaraz, hindered by physical issues in the second set, couldn’t keep pace as Rune powered through to claim the title. The Dane snapped a three-final losing streak to earn his first ATP title since April 2023, sealing a 7-6(6), 6-2 victory. It also marks his maiden ATP 500 crown and propels him back into the world’s Top 10.
